Resilience and Wellbeing

The overarching theme for my Practice is ‘resilience’. Resilience is about: awareness, self care, having a sense of purpose, forming positive relationships and mindfulness. I strongly believe these are the building blocks of happy and successful lives, in the workplace, at home and social spaces. As such my practice utilises a number of approaches to support this:

  • Cognitive Therapies
  • Mindfulness & Zen Practices
  • Psychotherapy
  • Communicating for Success

Resilience is the ability to recover quickly, its one's "bounceability" back to a normal state following adversity or challenging situations. To do this necessitates a strong core to include : strategies, resources, strengths, skills and insight.

Wellbeing includes physical, emotional and mental good health. Wellbeing can be a state of acceptance in order to move forward in a confident and constructive way.

If you can learn to face, conquer or accept all the pitfalls that life puts your way, then you are more assured of a happier, contented life and achieving your goals.

Further skills taught enhance self care and can increase awareness and sense of purpose.

The Penn (Pennsylvania Uni.) Resilience Training Programme

Used in the US military, and other high ranking organisations, focuses on:

  • Self Awareness
  • Mindfulness
  • Self Care
  • Positive Relationships
  • Purpose

Strengthening these five pillars results in resilience and wellbeing and a host of other positive attributes: coping confidence; courage; appropriate flexibility, helpful boundaries, increased tolerance, focus and overall mental and emotional wellbeing.

Personal and team performance is enhanced by emotional resilience. We carry our emotions, thoughts and behaviours in our workplace, schools, homes and social lives. For success and self empowerment in all areas of life resilience is required.
